Rick Snyder at the Capitol on Tuesday as he signs Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) regulatory reform measures dealing with the cleanup of contamination caused by leaking underground storage tanks. Public Acts 108-113 of 2012 create an independent dispute-resolution process and clarify that the DEQ cannot develop regulations for cleanups that are not specified under law. Booher's bill, PA 109, allows owners and operators to resolve disputes between themselves and DEQ through the response activity review panel, or let them resolve disputes through the office of administrative hearings within the department.

The veterans are members of Rolling Thunder Michigan Chapter 1 out of Manistee and were the honored guest of Booher on the Senate floor. Rolling Thunder is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting veterans and their families and bringing full accountability of all American Prisoners Of War and Missing In Action.

Public Act 1 of 2011 is farm-friendly legislation that will help ensure that Michigan farmers who voluntarily comply with state environmental standards receive real benefits. Wilson, a former Osceola drain commissioner who certified Boohers farm under the voluntary program, was invited by Booher to the bill signing.

Senate Resolution 14 encourages Congress to slow down or stop rules that may negatively impact customers of Michigan community banks and credit unions.
